About Simran

Hi! I’m a friendly and supportive tutor who loves helping students learn and grow. I have a background in Accounting and Finance and experience teaching and tutoring students from Year 1 to Year 13. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual. My goal is to make learning enjoyable, build confidence, and help students achieve their best in Math, English, and Accounting.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, supportive, and tailored to individual learning needs. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, gaps, and learning style, then design lessons that build understanding step by step. I use a mix of explanations, guided practice, real-life examples, and interactive activities to keep lessons engaging. I also focus on developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and confidence, rather than just memorization.

For Mathematics and Accounting, I emphasize clear concepts, worked examples, and regular practice, while in English I support reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills. I incorporate digital tools and resources in online sessions to make learning interactive and effective.

A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes, though I can adjust the duration depending on the student’s age and needs. Lessons usually include a short review, introduction of new concepts, guided practice, and independent tasks, followed by feedback and goal setting.

I have strong disciplinary knowledge in Accounting and Finance, along with formal training in teaching at the tertiary level. I also have experience tutoring students across different levels and supporting diverse learners through both online and face-to-face environments.

My lessons are suitable for students from Year 1 to Year 13, including primary, intermediate, and secondary learners. I support students with general learning, homework, and exam preparation, including NCEA Levels 1–3, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
