About Barbara
"Does a language session feel like a chore or a conversation? I prioritise an atmosphere where verb conjugation and vocabulary building happen naturally during our dialogue.
Because I hold a degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, I emphasise the musicality of Spanish pronunciation. We utilise weekly conversation practice recordings, which we review together to pinpoint exactly where your accent or listening practice could grow.
Having taught 487 students, I adapt my approach for everyone from kids to professionals preparing for an interview. It is quite rewarding to see the moment when the rhythm of a new phrase finally clicks. Learning becomes truly enjoyable when you find the melody hidden within the syntax."

"Standing before a score, I realised that Spanish art song remains inaccessible without a command of its spoken roots. This realisation led me to unite my 13 years of instruction with my background in music, teaching 487 students to date. I remember sitting with a student who could not distinguish between Castilian and Latin American variants until we mapped them against their personal goals.
My journey from a Modern Languages degree to the Royal Northern College of Music informs how I view grammar. Conversational fluency is a craft, much like phrasing a song, and I focus on the small details of accent and intonation. I approach each lesson with a light, observational touch to ensure that you feel heard as we navigate the complexities of the language."
