About Uwais
My name is Uwais, and I'm currently studying Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Johannesburg. Mathematics has always been a subject I enjoy because I love solving problems and understanding how different concepts connect.
I decided to become a tutor because I know how challenging maths can feel. I've experienced difficult topics myself, which has taught me that the right explanation can make all the difference. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a student go from feeling confused to confidently solving problems on their own.
My goal is to make maths less intimidating and more enjoyable. I believe every student is capable of succeeding with the right guidance, patience, and practice. I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.

I believe I would be an excellent mathematics tutor because I understand that every student learns differently. Having studied mathematics at university level, I know that many concepts can seem difficult at first, and I enjoy breaking them down into simple, easy-to-understand steps. My goal is not just to help students get the correct answer, but to ensure they truly understand the reasoning behind it.
My lessons are different because I focus on building confidence as well as knowledge. Instead of simply demonstrating solutions, I encourage students to think through problems with guidance, helping them develop the skills to solve similar questions independently. I adapt my teaching style to each student's pace, making sure they never feel rushed or left behind.
I also use practical examples, clear explanations, and plenty of worked examples before moving on to practice questions. I believe that repetition with understanding is the key to mastering mathematics. Students are encouraged to ask as many questions as they need, and I create a supportive environment where making mistakes is seen as an important part of learning.
Whether a student is preparing for exams, catching up on missed work, or aiming for top marks, I am committed to helping them achieve their goals. My lessons are patient, structured, and tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring that every student leaves with a stronger understanding and greater confidence in mathematics.
