About Anna

Hello! My name is Anna and I am a second year History student at the University of Oxford. I love English and am a gifted essay writer which is what led me to chose History, English and Philosophy at Higher level in the International Baccalaureate. My modules at Uni range from as early as 300 AD to modern day and so I am equipped to tutor most periods. My specialties include: the Tudors and Stuarts, The French Revolution, Nazi Germany, Russia from the Tsars to the fall of the USSR, and the Cold War. I have always been talented at English with top grades in all of my exams and a passion for reading and creative writing. I believe it is these qualities which make me an excellent English tutor.

As an Oxford Student Ambassador, I have received training on how to give advice to potential Oxbridge applicants. Using this training and my own experience I feel confident in my ability to tutor students in the HAT, personal statement advice and the interview process.

I am committed, friendly and looking forward to helping you achieve your goals.

About the lesson

I believe it is important to adapt my teaching to the individual needs of the tutee. Therefore. I will look through your school curriculum beforehand and create a plan for each session based on this information and the subject areas that you struggle the most with.

For each area of study, I will make a checklist and register your confidence before and after the session so that it is clearer what your areas that need more work are. I will also create quizzes after each session for the start of the next one based on what we learnt in order to test areas of weakness and strength.

I am a visual learner myself and so I understand the importance of mind maps and visual aids when revising. I will help you to create revision tools such as these and go through past papers, focusing on exam technique and the best way to properly address the question. I am also willing to look through and help with any piece of homework with which you may be struggling.
