About Jomare

Teaching is my passion. I love learning, books, and study, and being able to share that with people is always a pleasure. Few things make me happier than when a student finally understands a tricky concept, or masters a new skill. But that doesn't mean that I am not results oriented. Learning has to be disciplined and rigorous in order for it to be fun and engaging. At sixth form college I did a lot of tutoring, sometimes people would ask me to mark, correct, or give feedback on their essays, and sometimes I would give lessons to people over the course of a few weeks or months. And since then I've volunteered in South Africa with children, teaching them in various settings, including at a school, an orphanage, and a Holiday Bible Club. So I am more than used to thinking on my feet and adapting to the needs of a wide variety of students.

About the lesson

My goal as a teacher is to support every kind of student, from the high-flyers to the strugglers, with the kind of care that leads to results, and the kind of fun that helps students focus and understand. Practically speaking, this means lessons no shorter than 45 minutes and no longer than 90, over Zoom (I have premium, thankfully). My focus is on helping students gain understanding and knowledge by reasoning their way to answers with my support, rather than learning them by rote. During that time, we would be working through either course content and/or exam technique with the help of PowerPoint presentations, discussion questions (spoken and written), and educational games. I can't wait to get started with you!
