About Olivia
I am currently a student at Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, California with a focus in production and songwriting. In my personal career, I am a singer/songwriter who was written and improved on hundreds of songs in the last seven years of my writing. My instruments include vocals, guitar, piano, and bass.

Music theory is not easy to retain when you are simply given handouts and memorization tactics. I provide a mixture of activities and hands-on experience for a student to understand the application of music theory. Some will say you cannot teach someone to write lyrics, and while I cannot write them for a student, my lessons will engage the creative mind of the student to inspire lyrics. I also provide self-editing and critique skills that will be vital to composing a new song.
A typical lesson plan is to give a short, 5-10 minute lecture about the subject, while having the student actively play or sing whatever concept I am teaching. I would then have them try these theories on their own, and provide activities and journal logging materials they can come back with so I can know where their level is at.
I teach beginner music theory and intermediate songwriting for all ages.
