About ZHANG YIHAN

I am currently a Junior College 1 student at Hwa Chong Institution under the Humanities Program under the MOE Humanities Scholarship, with a strong passion for English, Literature and the humanities. I enjoy exploring how language shapes the way we think, communicate and understand the world around us, and I hope to share this enthusiasm with my students.

I want to teach because I hope to share my passion for the English language and humanities with students while helping them discover their own potential. I understand that not every student finds English easy or enjoyable, and I believe that with the right guidance, patience and encouragement, anyone can make progress. Through tutoring, I hope to make learning a more engaging and rewarding experience, helping students build not only their academic abilities but also the confidence to express themselves, think critically and develop a genuine appreciation for the language.

About the lesson

I am deeply passionate about the humanities and believe that every student can develop a love for the English language, regardless of their current proficiency. My goal is not simply to help students improve their grades, but also to cultivate their confidence, curiosity and appreciation for language. As someone who is still currently in the education system, I am especially knowledgeable in the know-hows and skills appreciated by examination boards.

My approach is student-centered and adaptable to each learner’s needs. I aim to make lessons engaging and approachable by breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps, providing clear explanations and using practical examples. I can help students strengthen their grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, composition writing and analytical skills through guided practice, targeted exercises and constructive feedback.

I also believe in nurturing a genuine interest in English by encouraging students to explore different forms of writing, express their ideas creatively and develop their own voices. For students who find English challenging, I prioritize building strong foundations and confidence. For more advanced learners, I focus on refining their writing style, strengthening their arguments and developing greater depth in their analysis.

Lessons typically last 1–1.5 hours, depending on the student’s age, attention span and learning objectives. Each lesson can be tailored to address specific weaknesses, reinforce schoolwork or prepare for examinations.

My lessons are suitable for primary and lower secondary students of varying English proficiency levels. Whether your child needs support with the fundamentals, hopes to improve their examination performance or wishes to develop a stronger appreciation for English, I strive to create a supportive learning environment where they can grow in both ability and confidence.
