About Sage
With over 9 years of coaching experience, I have seen firsthand how chess can enrich lives and minds. Many of my students are older adults looking for intellectual challenge and creative engagement. I aim to nurture that interest with patience and clarity. Lessons are paced thoughtfully, giving time for every idea to take root. Each student receives individual attention tailored to their needs. We focus on solid foundations: openings, tactics, and positional understanding. Beyond the moves, I bring in stories of chess history and culture. Famous games provide inspiration and models for deeper learning. I encourage lively discussions and critical thinking, making lessons active and rewarding. Games we play in lessons reinforce growth and show progress clearly. My role is to guide, support, and celebrate every step forward. Chess becomes a tool for sharper focus and stronger decision-making. There is always something new to discover in the game. I believe the joy of lifelong learning shines brightly through chess.

My chess teaching approach balances strategy, creativity, and practical skill. I begin by ensuring strong basics in tactics, openings, and endgames. Lessons use a combination of drills, guided play, and reflection to reinforce learning. Students are exposed to role-play games that mirror competitive conditions. This builds decision-making and confidence under time pressure. Hobbyists are encouraged to approach the game with curiosity and fun. More serious learners are guided toward precise analysis and competitive readiness. Famous games are studied for insight and inspiration. Chess culture and history are woven into lessons for context. I emphasize calm pacing so that concepts feel achievable. Mistakes are used as opportunities to learn deeply. Every student receives individual feedback tailored to their needs. Progress is steady, rewarding, and meaningful. Chess becomes a lifelong pursuit filled with challenge and joy.
