About Abigail
I am a cognitive behavioral neuroscience major at UCSD and I love to tutor! I have been tutoring independently for two years, teaching students from fifth to eleventh grade. I tutor and assist to the student's strength and their learning style. I believe in assessing the student's skills and starting with them regardless of their level. My interest within my major is learning and child development, so I consider all the tutoring I've done added practical experience to what I learn at school. The students I've tutored have seen significant improvement in not only their grades, but their skills and understanding of the topic.

My teaching method is to start off with a diagnostic kind of analysis as I work with whatever the student needs done (homework, test prep, etc). From there I'll get a better idea at the kind of support the student needs and what kind of learner they are. Then we can start with a plan on how to address any skills the student is missing from a past lesson/year/grade. Often, the reason students struggle is because they never were taught in a way that made sense to them, and as a result they grow frustrated with topics very easily. My approach is to tackle that in a way that seeks to eliminate that "standard" way of learning that frustrates so many students, and approach their concerns head on.
