About Samuel

After receiving a Bachelor's degree in History and Philosophy from the University of London, I moved to Argentina where I worked as an English and Creative Writing tutor and studied advanced Spanish at the University of Buenos Aires.

In 2018, I received my doctorate in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Stanford University. While pursuing my PhD, I had the opportunity to teach over fifteen college-level language courses including Introductory Spanish and Advanced Oral Communication, as well as additional courses on Literature and Philosophy.

As a private tutor, I over ten years experience offering individual classes tailored to students’ specific needs and learning goals, from younger students preparing to begin Elementary School Spanish to mature students wishing to improve communication for work, business, or pleasure.

Concurrent with my work as a tutor, I am professional writer for stage and screen and a proud member of The Writers Guild of America.

About the lesson

I strongly believe that 99% of people set out to learn a language because they want to be able to SPEAK it, and speak it with confidence and competence. Therefore, all my lessons (regardless of level) are built around how best to maximize and accelerate the students' ability to communicate.

As a private tutor I have 15 years experience offering individual Spanish classes (online and/or in-person) tailored to students’ specific needs and learning goals, which have included (but not been limited to): (1) younger students preparing to begin Elementary and Middle School Spanish, (2) High School students preparing for AP SPANISH, (3) Mature students wishing to improve Spanish communication for work, business, or pleasure.

I have a wealth of specifically prepared course materials which I like to use in conjunction with any and all resources students wish to share from their own classes. I am as happy and experienced working with a students to navigate their existing school curriculum, as I am designing a bespoke syllabus according to students' specific pedagogical needs.
