Meet the tutor!

Haley is a certified Education Assistant And Community Support Worker through Selkirk College.

Haley has been formally tutoring since 2019, and has tutored: English Language Learners, students with dyslexia, ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, and other learning difficulties.

Since 2010, I have been my siblings "at home teacher". It's always been the goal. I started tutoring through my school in 2019 and professionally tutoring in 2021. I specialize in helping students with learning issues of all kinds and those without who are looking for a challenge.

Over the years, I've learned how to help students learn how to learn, set and achieve their personal educational and career goals, and I've also gone on a few "miscellaneous side quests", like doing conversational English practice or acting as a local guide to new English speakers.

My favorite things to do include the typical reading, writing, and artsy stuff, but I'm also a lifelong student in any subject I get my hands on and spend most of my time helping and teaching others.

As a certified education assistant and community support worker and as a tutor, I've been creating resources that help both my students in learning and myself in teaching them. Feel free to check them out!

About the lesson

Students need to feel confidence in their ability to do their coursework - and that is a massive part of the foundation I set up when tutoring. Students often feel they are lacking when they are not doing so well and need to seek out help. This often causes an overall decrease in confidence, especially in younger students and students who have rejection-sensitivity. Building up their confidence in their ability to learn and being able to do their schoolwork is an integral step. We use and follow local curriculum and ensure we go over anything they don't fully understand. Academic tutoring is available for most subjects up to grade 12 and students can start as early as preschool if they're ready to learn!
