About Heather
Hi! I’m a certified Special Education teacher with a passion for helping students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties become confident, successful readers. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling with a focus on Adult and Child Development. I’m trained in both the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Wilson Reading System, two of the most effective, research-based programs for structured literacy instruction. In addition to my professional background, I’m also a mother to a daughter with dyslexia and ADHD. I understand firsthand the challenges families face—and the importance of patience, empathy, and evidence-based support. With years of experience supporting diverse learners, I tailor each online session to your child’s unique strengths and needs. I provide all curriculum and materials, so you can focus on progress—not preparation. My goal is to create a positive, empowering learning environment where students feel capable, understood, and motivated to grow. Let’s work together to unlock your child’s reading potential—one step at a time!

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Heather is fabulous and very kind and my daughter loved working with her. Very easy to communicate with.
Heather is one of the most caring educators I know and have met. Her work ethic, loyalty, and demeanor makes every learning experience and valuable lesson. One of her most endearing qualities is her patience with students, in addition to her ability to work diligently with students who have learning difficulties. Without her my daughter would have never been able to overcome her learning disability.
Heather has worked with two of my three children. She is qualified, patient, and empathetic. She helps my children more than educationally, she aids them when they are frustrated and works through challenges with ease.
I highly recommend Heather, any student would benefit from her expertise.View more recommendations
