About Marjorie

Hello! My name is Marjorie Chawla, and I’m a dedicated educator with over 10 years of experience supporting students of all ages and abilities. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany and a temporary teaching certificate in the state of Florida. For the past two years, I’ve taught an autism cluster classroom in Broward County, where I’ve developed deep expertise in supporting neurodivergent learners through individualized, strength-based instruction. My teaching style is calm, creative, and highly adaptive — with a focus on building confidence, academic skills, and emotional growth. I specialize in math and English tutoring, and often incorporate play-based learning, sensory strategies, and holistic approaches to meet each student where they are. About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is highly individualized, compassionate, and rooted in understanding how each student learns best. With a background in special education and occupational therapy, I specialize in working with neurodivergent learners and students who benefit from more structure, creativity, and patience in their academic support. Teaching Methods: I use multi-sensory, strengths-based strategies to teach both math and English, incorporating visual aids, movement-based learning, real-life examples, and lots of positive reinforcement. I bring in play-based learning, especially for younger students, to make academic concepts more engaging and intuitive. I also take a holistic approach, considering emotional regulation, sensory needs, and confidence-building as essential parts of the learning process. Typical Lesson Plan: A session usually begins with a brief check-in, followed by review of prior material to build confidence and identify gaps. I then introduce new concepts using interactive and creative methods tailored to the student’s learning style and energy level. For younger learners, this may include games, role-play, or movement. Each session ends with a recap and short reflection to encourage independence and goal-setting. What Sets Me Apart: What sets me apart is my deep understanding of learning differences and my ability to meet students exactly where they are. I build strong, trust-based relationships that foster motivation and long-term growth. I integrate play, structure, and emotional awareness into every session — helping students feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. Who I Teach: I tutor elementary through middle school students in math and English, and specialize in working with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, autism, processing disorders, and executive functioning challenges.
