Hello! I'm Chihiro, originally from Nagasaki, Japan, and now living in Melbourne, Australia with my husband, a dog, 2cats and 4 chickens :)
I love learning about different cultures, languages, and histories. My hobbies include gardening and practicing yoga . My students and friends describe me as kind, patient, and friendly.

About the lesson

Common Goals of My Students
Be able to travel using Japanese (order food, ask for directions, ask for permission, etc.)
Improve and expand vocabulary
Build longer and more natural sentences
Learn casual and polite forms of speech
Prepare for school exams (VCE/VSL in Australia)
Learn basic Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji
Practice Japanese for nursing and healthcare industries

I teach students from complete beginners to intermediate level, and I always adapt the pace and materials to suit your learning style.

In the trial lesson, we’ll talk about your goals and what you want to achieve.
You’re always welcome to share your ideas or tell me what you'd like to focus on — we can always create our own unique lessons together!

What My Lessons Are Like
All materials are provided before each lesson (vocab sheets, worksheets, etc.)
Lessons can be explained in English if needed — no worries!
We’ll review what we learned in the previous class
You’ll check new vocabulary for the current lesson
Learn new grammar with visual slides
Practice speaking using the new grammar and vocabulary in realistic situations (e.g. everyday life or what may happen in Japan)

I design each lesson to be fun, relaxed, and effective — you’ll feel supported but also challenged just enough to keep improving!

Perfect! Chirico is a friendly, very helpful, enthusiastic and caring teacher. Chirico makes you feel comfortable and connects with you at every level. Her online lesson presentations are easy to follow, content and illustrations are fun interesting as well as appropriate
for beginner level. Chirico engages well with you, the online language exercises help you retain the new vocabulary.

Cinthia is enthusiastic about learning Japanese, even though she doesn't have a plan to go Japan soon. Her Japanese pronunciation is clearer and she is patient as she knows studying other languages is needed to take some time.

Every time she learned new words, she tries to use them in lessons and our messages. She takes 2hrs lesson in each lesson which is probably hard to focus on, but she works on the lessons so hard. I can't wait to speak more in Japanese with her in the future!

Even though she is a really busy student, she's never given up learning Japanese. She has a passion about learning, and I really appreciate her enthusiasm. I am sure she will improve her Japanese and be able to enjoy her Japanese trip.

Using a well designed textbook is my preferred style of learning as I need some structure but Chihiro offers extra value by bringing extra language points to complement the textbook at the right time. Others may have different language learning styles which I'm sure Chihiro is able to cater for.
