About David

I owned and operated a landscape business in Nashville TN from 1990 to 2010. During that time, I worked with native Spanish speakers from all over Latin America. After I sold out in 2010, I entered college and declared Spanish as my major. I scored a 3.8 GPA in my discipline in 2016. I have enjoyed immersion programs in Mexico, Argentina and Ecuador and have traveled extensively throughout Central and South America. I have a very laid back attitude where I do not focus on getting every little regla exactly correct. Rather, my first goal is to help the student communicate. I fully understand that the student will make mistakes as I did... and often still do. Thus, in addition to helping guide my students, I also work at building the confidence of my students as they will often find themselves in Spanish situations and will need to proceed forward rather than to struggle trying to constantly find the correct words. I think you will find that I can help you a great deal. My goal is to become your favorite Spanish teacher.

About the lesson

I learned Spanish as a native English speaker associating with Spanish workers over a period of 20 years. Therefore, my Spanish is "street" Spanish. I understand the struggles of the English speaking student desiring to learn Spanish - something many native Spanish speakers take for granted. That said, my major in college was Spanish and so, I learned the proper language as well as the street lingo. When I tested out for graduation, I scored a Level Five - which is considered "Native." If you are struggling with your Spanish lessons in any grade from Middle School to High School and up to College, let me help you to understand difficult concepts. Allow me to help you build confidence, the confidence you will need if you intend to associate in the Spanish speaking world.
