About Nancy
I am a Spanish native speaker with a passion for languages. I've taken Japanese, Italian in high school and college, and a bit of French in Duolingo just for fun. My experience being a student of three world languages has provided me with the tools to teach my native language. I moved to the United States when I was seven, and for the first two years here I was also learning Japanese. These early years sparked my curiosity for learning which lead me to five years of Italian. I tutored Spanish to children from 2-13 years old, while I was a nanny for several families between 2012-2020. Although most of my work has been geared towards children, I can be an effective teacher for adults.

My teaching method prioritizes the individual. Knowing the interests, lifestyles and cultures of my students is important to me because they influence each lesson plan. This method makes the learning more personal and seamless for the student. Exploring film, music, literature, cuisines and other topics together for an interactive experience. This way also inspires more conversations and strengthens the confidence of a multilingual person. To create some balance, lessons will also focus on strengthening the student's reading comprehension and writing skills, through traditional methods of teaching language. My approach is mostly determined by the student's preferred methods of learning. This way they can feel more connected to the material and more motivated to use the language daily.
