About Amelie
I study History and Spanish at Balliol College, Oxford, and I am incredibly passionate about languages! I speak English, Spanish, French and Scottish Gaelic, and in my spare time always seem to be learning bits and bobs from any other languages I can think of! I am currently studying Russian on the side too. I have worked with over 100 students from ages 14 to 18, always aiming to boost confidence above anything else, because learning languages, like learning almost anything, is about developing the skills and having the confidence to try, regardless of whether you get it right or not.

My methodology is all about collaboration and empowerment. In my lessons I tend to focus more on what students will be able to achieve than what they already know or don't know - there is no point in wasting time on nerves or negativity! I find it best to work together to chart the best course towards getting those top grades, with a range of reading, listening and speaking exercises - with speaking being the priority, as in my experience this is the most overlooked part of the subject in the classroom. Typically a lesson with me lasts one hour, but I am happy to be flexible! I have been tutoring Spanish and French since I was in Year 11, and tutoring professionally for the past two years at GCSE and A Level.
