About Fari

My philosophy as a Spanish tutor is to foster a learning environment where curiosity and confidence grow together. I start by creating a safe space for students to make mistakes and explore the language without fear of judgement. Each lesson balances grammar fundamentals—covering tricky topics like subjunctive mood, verb tenses, and pronoun placement—with interactive speaking and listening activities designed to simulate real conversations. I use authentic materials such as songs, podcasts, and short stories to immerse students in diverse linguistic contexts and cultural backgrounds. Writing tasks vary from structured exercises to creative projects like personal narratives, helping students develop both accuracy and style. I also integrate technology—online exercises, video conferencing, and language apps—to support practice outside of class and keep learners engaged. A memorable success was working with a shy adult learner who gradually became an active participant in conversations by the end of our programme. My mission is to guide students towards fluency through patience, encouragement, and personalised teaching strategies that make learning both effective and enjoyable.

About the lesson

I approach Spanish teaching as a dynamic blend of communication, comprehension, and cultural appreciation. I believe language is best acquired through meaningful use and interaction, so my lessons emphasise speaking and listening as primary goals from the first day. Even with beginners, I prioritise forming complete thoughts aloud and using practical expressions, creating a sense of ownership and real-world application. Each class is shaped around student needs and interests—whether that means practising small talk, preparing for travel, or navigating professional conversations. I integrate visuals, movement, and storytelling techniques to enhance comprehension and keep students engaged. Grammar and vocabulary are taught not as abstract concepts, but as tools for connection, always applied in context through dialogue, reading, and writing. I use repetition strategically and ensure concepts are reinforced through guided practice and personalised review. Culture plays a central role in my teaching, and I take every opportunity to highlight the rich diversity of Spanish-speaking countries through music, cuisine, celebrations, and social customs. This not only enhances learning but inspires curiosity and empathy. Technology also supports my instruction—I use audio recordings, interactive games, digital flashcards, and video-based listening exercises to add variety and reinforce skills outside of our sessions. My teaching style is patient, responsive, and enthusiastic, focused on encouraging students to take risks, embrace challenges, and celebrate their voice in a new language. I aim for my students to not just speak Spanish, but to think and feel in it—to connect deeply with people and cultures beyond their own.
