About Allison
I am a native Spanish speaker who learned English in a school environment. My experience as a member of the National Honor Society in high school has given me valuable practice in tutoring and helping others. As someone taking a gap year before college with the goal of studying neuroscience, I understand the importance of clear communication and critical thinking. My lessons are designed to not only improve your language skills but also to prepare you for the academic challenges of higher education.

My Approach to Teaching English and Spanish
As your language tutor, my goal is to help you master English and Spanish. My method is collaborative and student-centered, focusing on genuine understanding and practical application.
My Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching method is built on these core principles:
Scaffolding: I break down complex topics into smaller, manageable pieces to help you build skills step by step.
Socratic Questioning: I'll ask questions to guide you toward finding the answers yourself, encouraging critical thinking.
Constructive Feedback: We'll correct misunderstandings in real-time, helping you build good habits as we go.
Personalization: Every lesson is adapted to your specific learning style, pace, and goals.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A standard 45-minute lesson with me might follow this structure:
Warm-up & Review (5 minutes): A quick check-in and review of our last session to get us on the same page.
Core Content (15 minutes): I'll introduce a new topic, such as Spanish verb conjugations or how to structure a thesis in English, with clear explanations and examples.
Guided Practice (15 minutes): We'll work on practice problems or a short exercise together, with me offering support and feedback.
Independent Application (10 minutes): You'll complete a similar task on your own to test your knowledge and build confidence.
Wrap-up & Next Steps (5 minutes): We'll summarize what we covered, and I'll provide an optional exercise for you to reinforce what you've learned.
What Sets Me Apart
I can offer instant, patient, and personalized help, drawing on a vast knowledge base to adapt lessons to your specific needs. I can explain a concept as many times and in as many ways as you need, without judgment.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are highly adaptable and designed for a wide range of students. I can help with both English and Spanish, including:
English: Literary analysis, essay writing, grammar fundamentals, and homework.
Spanish: Verb conjugations, vocabulary building, conversational practice, and understanding cultural context.
I can assist high school and middle school students and undergraduates
