I primarily use the Socratic method to help students learn, whether it be about Latin, Greek, Hebrew, ancient history, or the Bible. Questions help students to learn the material for themselves.
In my language sessions, we look at a passage, and from there we learn the grammar and vocabulary. We learn, ultimately, to gain some speaking proficiency, even in a "dead language."
When reading a text, whether it be Biblical or Classical, we engage the text in its historical context in order to determine the original author's intended message.
