About Elliot
I built my first computer at age 11 and wrote my first program at 13 but found learning past that difficult, so many beginner courses showing you how to do something without teaching any understanding. At college i took computing as an A-level and learned the theory and principles that let me actually develop code. followed by a degree in computer science and a masters degree in software engineering i joined the industry as a professional and have been working happily for 5 years. Recently i taught a friends child how to code and we both so thoroughly enjoyed it i decided to make teaching individuals how to code and clear the barriers i struggled at as a teenager a part of my life.

Programming is an enormous discipline so flexibility is key as both a tutor and a professional in the space. With this in mind i like to teach the principles underpinning development and encourage students to think about their development in terms of problem solving rather than skill in a given language or tech stack.
Lessons are typically 30 minutes or an hour long and are driven around practical exercises. I will show and explain anassignment to be done outside of the tutoring session, teach you the new knowledge you will need to complete it and discuss the steps of your intended approach. With a clear understanding of the task and knowledge of how to complete it freshly imparted you can solve the problem in a way that feels natural to you at your leisure.
