About Claire

I have over ten years of teaching experience within Further Education; teaching and guiding students aged 14 years to adults. I have held senior teaching roles in three previous posts, where I have been responsible for managing and mentoring other tutors.
I am proficient at managing people’s needs, expectations and sensitivities. I am friendly, enjoy working with people, and can communicate with a diverse range of individuals from varied backgrounds, due to living and working in various countries and areas of the UK. I have undertaken several online courses which have included, within the last year: ‘Accessibility of eLearning’, ‘Careers education and guidance’, ‘Children and young people’s participation’, and ‘Managing and managing people’ all through Open Learn.

I have experience of managing caseloads and meeting targets and deadlines, both as a teacher and in my role as Executive Officer at Jobcentreplus. I also have negotiated with a range of partners in roles of Course Coordinator and Brand Development Manager. Well organised and responsible with a ‘hands on’ approach to work, I can delegate and take control of situations without hesitation, prioritise tasks, and work well under pressure.

Having taught for over 10 years, reflective practice comes automatically; self-assessing lessons, and reviewing how well a plan has been implemented.

About the lesson

Schemes of Work and lesson plans are always written with integrated plans for learning which are reflected upon, after being taught, to understand the value in terms of the students’ learning experience. Student feedback is often sought, by way of questionnaires and lesson reviews. I use BKSB and Moodle and have used blended learning within GCSE and Functional Skills classes to encompass all types of learning styles. I am always keen to develop my knowledge within this area of teaching.
