About Loran

I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting. Since then, I have been an artist professionally in my own practice as well as in the commercial photography industry of North Texas. As a professional, respect is essential. I value the authentic desire in anyone to create and express themselves. My courses are designed to be readily accessible to students of all skill levels and promote steady, if not rapid, improvement.

About the lesson

I believe in self expression. However, self expression can get very bogged down in subjectivity. I think the best way to alleviate this problem is to have a firm grounding in objective art skills and an understanding of art theory. This is where I perform my best with students. Through my many years of education and practice I have learned and adopted several techniques and exercises that stimulate growth, curiosity, and inspiration. I believe instructing others in their own art practice is fundamentally rewarding and a blessing.
