About Kaia
I am a vocal instructor with six years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music with a focus on Voice. My teaching approach integrates Classical, Pop, Rock, and Country styles, allowing students to explore diverse musical expressions while building a solid technical foundation. I emphasize ear training, harmony, and music theory to strengthen overall musicianship alongside vocal development.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s abilities and goals, whether you are a beginner finding your voice, an intermediate singer refining technique, or an advanced performer seeking artistic growth. I focus on breath control, tone quality, pitch accuracy, and expressive phrasing to ensure every student develops confidence and versatility.
Through a combination of practical exercises, repertoire work, and performance practice, students gain skills that translate to both solo and ensemble settings. For The Advanced Teen, the focus is on refining technical control while encouraging expressive performance. Each session begins with warm-ups that enhance pitch accuracy, agility, and dynamic range. Exercises target vocal flexibility, including runs, riffs, and extended phrases. Students explore emotional interpretation, learning to connect lyrics with personal expression. Song adaptability across genres—pop, jazz, R&B, classical—is emphasized to develop stylistic versatility. Confidence-building techniques, including performance simulations, help manage stage presence and self-assurance.
For The Quartet Player, training emphasizes harmony, blending, and ensemble awareness. Individual exercises are complemented by group practice, ensuring each voice maintains pitch stability while adapting to others. Attention is given to phrasing, diction, and dynamic balance within a four-part structure. Collaborative exercises improve timing, cue recognition, and emotional coherence.
Both personas use DAWs and vocal apps to record and monitor practice, track pitch accuracy, and measure progress. Metronomes guide rhythm and tempo control, enhancing precision. Homework includes genre-specific exercises and sight-singing challenges. Lessons are interactive, practical, and motivating, ensuring progress is measurable and enjoyable.
