About Julie

I am in my final semester of my Econ degree with a minor in Data Science. I have spent the past year and a half working as a research assistant on different projects with department faculty which has cemented my understanding of economic theory and its real-life application. In my experience people struggle with mathematical and economic concepts because they are taught in a way that skips the intuition and tries to go into rules and theory immediately. I have found that explaining the logic and thought sequence first makes it much easier to grasp seemingly hard concepts.
Outside of academics, I grew up trilingual which over time has taught me to become comfortable code switching and jumping from one language to the other easily. I know what it feels like to learn a new language and switch between ways of thinking across languages and I try to make that easier for my students.
Having younger siblings has taught me patience, and I'm naturally structured in how I explain things. I genuinely love the moment a concept clicks and sticks with a student, and the confidence that comes with mastering a new skill.

About the lesson

As a final-year student, I have had plenty of experience as a research assistant, offering students support in all things Econometrics, microeconomics, macroeconomics and maths. I also have experience tutoring students at different levels of English and German, both are my native languages. I am fluent in Arabic.
For economics and maths I start by ensuring a thorough understanding of core concepts before building up to more complex ones. I focus on teaching students how to connect ideas across subjects and developing a practical, intuitive understanding of theory instead of just memorization, including applying concepts to real data in econometrics.
For languages, my lessons are conversation-driven: for example a German lesson will be given in German as much as possible, and involves reading, writing and spelling integrated into literature and conversation practice.
