About Sajan
I graduated as an engineer from IIT Bombay in 2013, which is where I discovered my love for Indian Classical Music - in particular, the Dhrupad sub-genre. Since then I've been living in the Gurukul run by Dhrupad maestros - the Gundecha Brothers in Bhopal, and have been training under their guidance. I've been the recipient of prestigious scholarship awards including the ICMA Young Scholar award (San Francisco), the Ministry of Culture's scholarship, NCPA Scholarship. I've been performing at stages across the country since 2017, and have also presented academic papers at conferences in India and USA.

I've been fortunate to have had the traditional Guru-Shishya mode of training from the foremost Gurus of Dhrupad since 2013. My teaching method is based on the same philosophy and I focus on building a deep awareness of elements of sound and its production. Dhrupad as a form in itself demands deep contemplation, and I bring practices that unlock realizations about the inner world through engaging with a highly sophisticated classical music system. My teaching method works for people of any musical background, and I hope to benefit everybody in some way or the other through what I've learned.

Perfect! Sajan is a great guide on my recent journey in the fascinating art of Dhrupad
With patience and tolerance, he senses what is necessary for me to acquire in order to advance, but also keeps my interest alive by giving me the insights that will make my simple practice more enjoyable
