About Luke
I am a senior chemical and biomolecular engineering student at the University of Maryland. Throughout my education I have consistently taught my peers and educated them on STEM topics in effective ways. I always try to be a friend first and a teacher second as I believe it is easier to teach and convey information within that relationship. I have experience teaching young students from the range of 7th-12th grade on STEM topics. This experience is from a summer internship sponsored by the GEMS program within the Army Education Outreach Program. This program gave me training on how to be an effective teacher and tutor to younger students, and has prepared me for being an effective teacher.

My teaching modules contain palatable and easy to comprehend information in a variety of subjects. My lesson plans will contain theory with catchy phrases and sayings to help the student better remember the content. This theory will be followed with practice problems to apply the learned theory. I have experience teaching students from 7th-12th grade and can adjust the lesson for these levels of comprehension. I am currently a student in college so I can convey STEM topics to a younger audience more effectively. This is due to me having experience tutoring my peers throughout the years, so I have a greater idea of how younger students learn and retain new information.
