About Farha

My goal as an Arabic Language teacher is to foster my students’ awareness of the Arabic world through the language and culture, using critical thinking skills to facilitate the acquisition of lifelong learning skills, and to prepare students to function as highly skilled and competent Arabic readers and speakers.

About the lesson

My teaching method can be summarized as follows. The first thing I do at the beginning of every class is a warm-up activity with a twofold purpose: to engage students in conversation so they can feel comfortable using Arabic and to activate their previous knowledge to prepare them for learning. Then I use specific strategies, methods, and technology to explain the theoretical part of the lesson and I end the class with the practical part that involves group work and exercises. After a lesson is complete, I engage learners in interpersonal communication activities, in order to produce output in several ways (such as everyday talk, formal meetings, interviews and talk shows, advertisements, news reports..). As for my assessment techniques, I use formative and summative approaches; in a form of test, quiz, assignment, etc.. Assessments are essential not only for the students but also for me, as a teacher, because I can spot gaps and always aim to improve.
