About Kira Phoenix
I graduated from Central St Martins in 2010 and The Royal College of Art in Glass and Ceramics, with a distinction for my thesis, in 2015. I continue to work as an artist and run my own studio in Wimbledon, London. I have always enjoyed helping and supporting those around me and it brings me great joy to be able to bring that same energy to all my students, and their studies.

I have been working as an individual Tutor and Mentor since 2009. During this time, I have had the pleasure to work with students from various backgrounds from across the world (Europe, Africa, China and Australia to name a few), ages (11+, GCSE, A-level, University and Masters) and needs (for example, SEND students).
I have experience working at a recovery centre, where I supported students in recovery with SEND needs. I have worked as a freelance tutor for eight tutoring companies and I have taught at university level (please let me know if you would like more information). I set up and developed my own tutoring services in 2018.
My approach to tutoring and mentoring any student is an holistic one. Each student learns in their own way and I like to work with the student at their pace to find the best way for them to learn. This helps them develop tools and skills that are unique to them and will be useful transferable skills across all aspects of their lives.
I offer one-to-one tutoring and home-schooling programmes. My tutoring background covers a range of subjects, including the Arts (to Masters level), English (Literature and Language to A-level), Maths (to GCSE), Sciences (to GCSE), and the Humanities. I have also helped students who needed support with Elocution, Apprenticeship Studies and Work Experience.
I specialise in supporting SEN and EAL students. Being dyslexic myself, I can understand and provide the additional support that a student who is SEN will need. For example, creating a visually exciting programme of study, learning to allocate time for breaks or talking through any issues that have arisen with their studies and working with the student to find a healthy, educational solution.
Each student I have tutored has surpassed their own expectations of what they could achieve, with some students going from receiving Cs and Ds to As and Bs. I really enjoy being able to help SEN and EAL students find their own way to learn and gain confidence.
I aim to create an environment that is supportive and encouraging, with kind and thoughtful communication being reciprocal.
I have experience of a range of UK based exam boards, including AQA and Edexcel.
I have helped 11+ students work towards their tests and be accepted to schools like Charterhouse School, Eton College, Radley College, Winchester College, Bradfield and Marlborough.
I have also supported A-level students to write and complete successful University applications. Past students have been accepted to Cambridge, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (UAL), Slade, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Oxford Brooks, Goldsmiths, CalArts USA and Parsons USA to name a few.
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.
Perfect! Kira has been supporting my 15 year old dyslexic daughter with English tutoring for the past two weeks. In this short period of time, my daughter has become more confident, her work is more organised, Kira has already identified specific areas to focus on, and my daughter is (for the first time) enjoying her school work. I can't thank Kira enough, and would highly recommend - thank you Kira!
- It has been such a pleasure working with this student. She is always engaged with the subject matter, excited to discuss the themes and seeing her confidence build with reading aloud has been a joy. Interactions with the whole family have also been brilliant. Brilliant work and well done so far!See the response Kira Phoenix :

Kira is an incredibly insightful tutor. Her resources that she has used during session have been ones that I have come back too again and again. She’s always happy to offer advice and her energy in her teaching is always fun. It’s really enjoyable spending time and learning from and with Kira and I always look forward to it!
Highly recommend!Kira is incredibly talented, dedicated, reliable, hard working and meticulously organised.
Her enthusiasm is infectious.
I would recommend her in a heartbeat.Kira has fantastic energy and creativity and I know her through her amazing glass art work. Being a fellow dyslexic I know how important it is to be taught by someone who really knows what it is like, the struggles involved and how to make learning fun for those that have it.
Kira is the perfect mix of compassion and drive. I know that after spending time with her anyone will be given new tools to overcome challenges and will have been met on their level. It is very easy to recommend Kira to anyone.
Kira is meticulous in all actions of her life and conversely into tutoring! As a winner in many disciplines in her life for sue she can produce great new Artists - photographers, sculptors you name it!
Kira is very kind and empathetic. She helped me out in many occasions during my PhD. Couldn't recommend anyone better than her.
I’ve only known Kira for a few months and I can safely say my life has been enriched! She is charming, beautiful, generous and extremely interesting. Oh and of course very talented.
You won’t go wrong with entrusting yourself in her very capable hands xUnderstanding, patient, friendly and has a natural ability to bring out the best in you, these are just some of the things that spring to mind about Kira. She has a passion for helping others, can help you build confidence within and will always be there for you when needed. Honestly speaking, you couldn't be in safer hands.
