I take the time to learn about my student's likes/dislikes as well as their strengths/weaknesses. I am a storyteller and use stories to help make the topic relatable to my students. I believe if the student isn't engaged in the subject we are wasting our time. An example of this, I had a star athlete having trouble with algebra word problems. So I, compared the word problem to throwing the football with the wind or against the wind. He was able to go from failing to A grades in six weeks.
