About Joshua

I'd like to think my ad says it all, but if you want a little extra background, here it is;

I have a law degree, but chose to follow my heart into literature instead. I've worked in pretty much every field of employment you can think of. I'm a certified ethical hacker (don't let that scare you,I'm not very good) I live in a small village in the east midlands with my fiance and our rabbit. My preferred genre to both read and write is surrealist speculative fiction (although I am well versed in classic a modern contemporary, so can meet your needs in any department) I chose the self-publishing route, but have experience with securing an agent if you're looking looking to go down the traditional publishing route. And I'm an ordained dudeist priest.

The reason I want to teach is because I remember how hard it was when I first started out. I found myself fumbling around in the dark for the first few years, with no one around to help me find a light. The technical side of writing is the easy part but it's discovering your own voice, your own style; that thing that sets you apart from everyone else on the shelf that is simultaneously the most rewarding and most difficult part of the process to navigate. I want to spare others that most private of hells and mitigate as much of the frustration and confusion that comes along with it as I can. I suppose what I'm saying is that I want to be as much a mentor to my students as I am a teacher.

About the lesson

Stories have always been my passion, whether fact or fiction, everyone has at least one good story in them.

The problem many people face is thinking they lack the ability to turn that story from a string of ideas into a compelling narrative. That's where I come in.

I'm a firm believer that there isn't a person alive who isn't capable of becoming a master storyteller with the right help. That's why I tailor my lessons to meet the needs of the individual learner. Whether you haven't put pen to paper for anything more than a shopping list since school, or an aspiring author looking for a second set of eyes to help them gussy up their manuscript before they start shopping it around, I am here for you.

My rates are reasonable and, in cases of dire financial hardship, negotiable for the right applicant.

My first meeting is always free so that we can get to know eachother before any financial commitments, to ensure that we can both take the right path along our journey together.
