About Harps

I have taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics at KS3 and KS4 and Biology at KS5 over the past eight years. I have taught both top set and mixed ability GCSE classes and have had experience of AQA, OCR and EdExcel exam boards. I am currently teaching part time (Wed-Friday) until the end of July. I would like to focus purely on full time tutoring from September 2021 and would love to help you!

My time at my previous school has enabled me to enhance my teaching and learning skill set. I have gained experience teaching at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and have acted as a form tutor for a year 9, 10, 11,12 and 13-year group. I have developed my teaching skills through various in-school CPD training sessions and out of school teaching and learning workshops. I have worked with the Field studies council to lead school learning workshops for KS3 students. In addition to this I have organised learning trips, including visits to the Department of Transport and Transport for London as part of a STEM project I set up to encourage more female students to consider typically ‘male dominated arenas’ such as Engineering as potential professional routes. I have organised and carried out Medial entry preparation sessions including preparation for BMAT and UCAS/personal statement guidance for students considering the Medical and Biological fields. This has also encompassed bringing in guest speakers from UCLH and taking students to Imperial college for careers workshops.

About the lesson

My teaching experience encompasses teaching students that have had special educational needs to teaching and guiding more able learners in class. I have taught a mixed cohort of students and have tailored different teaching methods to suit children of differing abilities. I believe each student learns in their own unique way and it is the job of the teacher to work with the student and find what best suits the learner at hand.
