About Ruby
I have always been an advocate for representing the underrepresented in education, and strive to ensure that every student feels capable of achieving great things. I am a first generation student at university, and have worked extremely hard to get there despite many personal struggles along the way. I achieved a first class grade in my first year at university, my best modules being in poetry and medieval literature. My passion for literature has pushed me and given me access to knowledge that I would not find elsewhere. I work part-time as an Early Years Practitioner, and so I have a lot of experience working with younger years - particularly when it comes to reading, helping with grammar and spelling, etc. After my undergraduate, I hope to study a Masters in Medieval Literature at Cambridge or Kings College London.

I aim to create a comfortable and stress-free workspace, so that students feel able to find a love for English if they haven’t already. We will focus on their key texts, reading and analysing passages to enhance language comprehension and the ability to articulate their thoughts on a particular word/phrase in their own writing. I will also ensure a thorough understanding of language vocabulary is met so that students are able to point out and zoom in on particular verbs/metaphors etc. when it comes to their exam. A typical lesson length will range from 30-60 minutes. I have experience tutoring friends and family members, and currently work as an Early Years Practitioner (I have a DBS check, and am responsible for the education and safety of children from nursery to year 6). My lessons are for GCSE and A Level students in English Literature and Language, though I am happy to teach younger students or first year undergraduates if required.
