About Mai

Hi! I’m Mai, a second-year pharmacy student at UWA. I’m passionate about learning and sharing knowledge, which is why I love tutoring. I want to help students not only understand the subjects they’re learning but also develop confidence in their abilities. I’ve tutored high school students in math, science, English, and art, and I know how powerful it is to have someone who’s patient, approachable, and willing to explain things in ways that make sense. My methodology emphasizes active learning—engaging students with practical examples, hands-on problem solving, and real-life applications to make abstract concepts more relatable and understandable. I also use a variety of resources, such as visual aids, interactive exercises, and digital tools, to cater to different learning preferences. Additionally, I like to break down complex topics into manageable steps, ensuring that students not only grasp the material but also build their confidence in the subject. Typical Length of a Lesson: Each lesson is typically 1 hour long, which I find to be the perfect amount of time to cover topics thoroughly without overwhelming the student. However, I am flexible with the length and can adjust based on the student's needs and focus. Qualifications and Experience: I am currently studying pharmacy in my second year at the University of Western Australia. In addition to my academic qualifications, I have experience tutoring high school students in subjects like math, science, English, and art. My background in both the sciences and humanities allows me to provide a well-rounded tutoring experience. I have a deep understanding of complex concepts and a strong ability to break them down into easy-to-understand explanations. Who Are My Lessons For: My lessons are primarily aimed at high school students (Years 7-12), though I am open to tutoring university-level students in subjects related to science and pharmacy. I work with students of varying levels and can adapt my teaching methods to suit beginners through to more advanced learners. Whether a student is preparing for exams or seeking to improve their general understanding of a subject, I am committed to helping them achieve their goals.
