My Approach as a Tutor:
My goal as a tutor is to help students become confident readers, writers, and communicators. I believe literacy skills are the foundation of academic success, so I focus on helping students understand not only what they are learning but also how to apply those skills independently. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as learners.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
I want you to love what you're learning! I use a student centered approach that adapts to each learner's strengths and challenges. For reading and literacy, I focus on comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, critical thinking, and analyzing texts. For writing, I guide students through the writing process, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. I use discussion, guided practice, examples, and constructive feedback to help students strengthen their skills and build confidence.
My Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and the student's goals for the session. I want to work with you and YOUR goals! We then focus on a specific skill, assignment, or area of improvement. Reading sessions may involve analyzing passages, discussing themes, improving comprehension, or building vocabulary. Writing sessions may include developing ideas, organizing essays, improving grammar, or refining drafts. Each lesson concludes with a summary of key concepts and strategies the student can continue practicing independently.
What Sets Me Apart:
As a college student with strong experience in academic writing and reading analysis, I understand the challenges students face when developing literacy skills. I strive to make learning approachable and engaging while providing personalized support for each student. My focus is not only on helping students complete assignments but also on helping them become stronger, more independent readers and writers.

I can help with reading comprehension, literacy development, essay writing, grammar, editing, research papers, literary analysis, and general academic writing.
