About Jolene-Marie

In my three years of work experience, one thing each of my employers can say is that I am efficient and dedicated. When given the space, I consistently showcase the best of my abilities. I have always been known to take initiative and demonstrate every day why I was hired and why I should continue to be. I have a strong track record of being punctual, attentive, and motivated.

After the first session, I would be more than happy to move my tutoring off the site, or whatever is most convenient for you!

About the lesson

From a young age, I have been surrounded by high achieving STEM academics across a variety of fields. While my mother taught organic chemistry at the university level, she also took the time to tutor me.

I understand what it’s like to be a child who struggles to sit still or stay focused. That’s why I believe learning should always be associated with a positive experience, because that’s when children begin to develop genuine interest in their own education.

As civil engineer Clay P. Bedford once said: "You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."

My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where children feel heard, understood, and encouraged. I take the time to learn how each student thinks, so I can meet them where they are. Whether they learn best through movement, structure, or independent exploration.

What I Offer:
• Math tutoring for grades K–8
• Algebra and Pre-Calculus support
• Personalized, adaptive teaching styles

My Approach:
After 5 PM, sessions include a relaxed start with snacks before we begin focused learning. I track what your child is currently learning in school and find areas where they may need extra support. If a student is struggling with a specific concept, we will focus on it until they build confidence and proficiency.

Another important part of learning is consistent positive affirmation. A child’s abilities can only go so far if they do not believe in themselves as well. My teaching style focuses on recognizing two things: how hard they are working and where they went right. I believe it is important to praise their effort while also helping them take pride in their own work.

Every Sunday, I create a customized lesson plan based on your child’s progress, which is shared with both you and your child to keep everyone involved.

My goal is to not only just to help students keep up, but to help them go beyond the classroom and build lasting confidence in their abilities.
