About Shirly

Do you prefer a coach who prioritizes deep understanding over simple memorization? My 5 years of experience teaching high school students and college applicants has refined my ability to explain complex concepts in clear terms. I hold a BS Mathematics from UCLA, which allows me to break down passport to Advanced Math topics into manageable parts.

Sessions are planned but not scripted, and I abandon the plan if something better comes up. I work well with honors students and retakers who want to truly understand the logic behind the test.

My goal is to build habits that outlast our final meeting. I would rather construct a skill set slowly that holds firm than one built quickly that collapses under pressure. AP students often find my methodical style keeps their minds sharp. I value the process of building long-term knowledge, and I keep my focus on the long game.

About the lesson

Timing yourself on a practice test feels like running a sprint while solving a riddle. By emphasizing pacing and free response technique first, I ensure you do not lose points on the sections due to simple mistakes.

We analyze common traps until you recognize them instantly, even in the middle of a stressful word problem. My approach leans heavily into Problem Solving and Data Analysis so you can navigate the no-calculator section with absolute confidence.

Calculators are tools, not crutches, and we learn to use them efficiently without losing our mathematical footing. My UCLA training means I check for the logic behind your answers instead of just grading your results.

You learn to spot the patterns that recur across every single exam. I want to replace your anxiety with a systematic process that works under any condition.
