About Rhoda

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching in performance, singing, creative writing and film for the past 9 years alongside my career in the Arts. On graduation from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama I was asked to guest lecture post graduate students at Central and then invited back to assist and be part of the audition panel for the Masters in Musical Theatre in New York. Additionally I have also taught at Arts Ed for the Foundation and First Year Students for the Acting through Song module prior to Christmas.

Alongside teaching and my work in the arts I wrote my first musical that went on in the West End with a West End Cast and I have also set up a Education and Theatre Production Company Roar Edge Productions. Roar Edge creates jobs for working actors who go into schools across London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Buckinghamshire teaching one-to-one and group acting lessons preparing students for their LAMDA acting examinations.

Prior to studying Acting and Singing at Drama school I worked within the film industry on the production side, working on The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, on the sound mixing team for Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, Channel 4's IT Crowd, and a National Geographic Documentary in Kyrgyzstan. I also taught film for three years at the International Summer School of Scotland, where my pupils have gone on to work for Netflix, Warner Brothers, and Tribecca Films.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a current DBS and Safegaurding Certification.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Acting and Musical Theatre (MA MT) where I was trained by Zachary Dunbar, Jo Davies and Janie Dee and I have since worked with Tim English, and Olivier award winning performers.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current and past students I have prepared for auditions for The Brit School, Bird College, Mountview, The National Theatre, The RSC, Matilda and The Lion King, of which all were successful in gaining places and the roles they were up for. I love preparing students for an event or Acting auditions, and having been present on panels for drama schools and productions in London I enjoy enhancing the qualities panels are looking for.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Acting, Musical Theatre Singing and Acting through song, preparation for drama school and industry auditions.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I'm a DBS checked and Safeguarding Certified Acting and Singing Teacher. I have trained in Acting and Musical Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I have a Masters in Theology from the University of St Andrews.

- How much do you charge?

Lesson are £50 an hour with additional costs for lengthy travel or venue fee hire (approx. £6-10 depending on the venue charge). Group lessons for 2 or more students are £35 each per hour. LAMDA sessions for half an hour, if requested are £25. There are discounts for bookings made in bulk, please contact for details.

- Where do you teach?

I am based in South West London and teach from home as well as hiring a studio at Dance Attic. I also travel to students' homes on request.

- When are you available?

I have a pretty flexible schedule on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the day teaching from home. I am also able to teach on evenings and weekends from a hired space. I also offer Coaching via Facetime and Skype which is a convenient means to have lesson whatever or schedule or wherever you live.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Acting/Musical Theatre Singing and Acting Through Song: All levels, ages 6yrs upwards.
LAMDA/ RADA/ TRINITY examinations ages 6yrs upwards.
Finding suitable, current repertoire for Acting and Musical Theatre audition material.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Due to the advances in technology, lessons can be taught from anywhere in the world to anyone in the world. I currently teach via Facetime and Skype enabling students with varying flexibility and locations to have lessons.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Whether you are wanting to find the confidence to sing alone in your living room, for an audition, or wanting to gain the skills to stand up and present in front of a crowd of 100+ I've got your back. Talking over your ambitions and goals, we will break them down together into manageable chunks to create a series of smaller successes until you reach your desired main goal.
