About Jeyalakshmi

Hello, future students! My name is Jeyalakshmi Moorthy and I’m passionate about teaching mathematics in a way that makes even the most complex concepts feel approachable and relevant to your everyday life. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching a wide range of mathematics subjects, from algebra and trigonometry at the undergraduate level to more advanced topics like topology, real analysis, discrete mathematics, and queueing theory for graduate students. Each of these subjects has its own unique beauty and practical value, and I’ve made it my goal to present them in a way that resonates with each student’s level and interests. For me, teaching isn’t just about explaining theorems or solving problems—it’s about fostering curiosity and helping you see the patterns that exist in the world around us. Mathematics is not just abstract theory; it’s the foundation for understanding so many fields, from engineering and technology to economics and even the natural world. My goal is to help you develop a strong mathematical foundation, regardless of the subject, so that you can approach real-world problems with confidence. During the pandemic, I transitioned to teaching via iPad, and it was a challenging but rewarding experience that taught me how to be flexible and creative in delivering content. Whether in a traditional classroom or through remote learning, I strive to create an environment where learning feels interactive, engaging, and accessible. I’m also particularly excited to work with school children, as I believe that sparking an interest in math early on is essential. Mathematics doesn’t have to be intimidating—it’s a subject that can ignite curiosity and open doors to new possibilities. Ultimately, my passion for teaching is driven by the belief that anyone can learn and enjoy mathematics if the subject is presented in an accessible and engaging way. I look forward to working with you and sharing my enthusiasm for math!

About the lesson

I teach a variety of subjects in mathematics, including Discrete Mathematics, Queueing Theory, and Random Processes for engineering students, aiming to simplify complex concepts through practical, easy-to-understand examples. During the pandemic, I successfully transitioned to teaching via iPad, ensuring that students could continue to learn effectively in a remote environment.

For B.Sc. students, I cover Algebra and Trigonometry, while for M.Sc. students, I focus on Topology, a subject I am particularly passionate about. I also have a deep interest in Real Analysis and Topology, which I thoroughly enjoy teaching.

Additionally, I am eager to engage with school children, introducing them to the wonders of mathematics in a way that fosters curiosity and a strong foundational understanding.
