About Shyamal
I am a retired industrial qualified finance and cost and management accountant. I had scored 85 per cent marks in 1972 in English as a subject in The Indian School Certificate (Cambridge University Local Examinations Syndicate) Examinations. I had qualified with 88 percentiles in the Test Of English as a Foreign Language in 1982 and had qualified for the IELTS examination held by the British Council in India in 1994. I have attended several seminars on IFRS held at London, Sydney and Wellington where spoken English in presentations and group discussions was of international standards.

My methodology is not traditional. Rather it has been developed by student-teacher interactions and group discussion since my earliest venture in teaching Afghan and Iranian Cost & Management Accountancy students basic English to aid them in the ICMA (UK) Intermediate Examinations in Teheran and Kabul while working for Adam Smith International at Trans Iranian Railway and the Kabul City Initiative projects during 1986 and 1999.
Any language gets learned best by hearing and speaking first and reading and writing afterwards. But for the adolescent and adults, the knowledge and familiarity to its alphabets and numerals are a pre-requisite. I start if no prescribed textbook is assigned, with my own notes. Among traditional guides to English, the Wren & Martin's "High School English Grammar and Composition" has been a grand success for nearly a century.
