About Eldon
I started studying French at the age of 14 in Oklahoma City, and I took that study seriously because it was fun! I would extend my vocabulary using video games (highly recommend Skyrim), I read many books (including Les Misérables, Notre-Dame de Paris, Candide, Le Petit Prince, the Louis Segonde translation of the Bible, and many other works). When I was 18, I competed with thousands of students and acquired one of six spots on a two week fellowship study in the town of Chantilly. A year after that, I moved to France and stayed for two years in a capacity where I was required to converse daily with individuals about complex topics and ideas. Since then, I have taken a Defense Language Proficiency Test where my reading and listening comprehension were determined to be at a native proficiency and my speaking ability was determined to be near native. If I've learned anything in that time, it is that the courage to make mistakes will teach you so much more than rote memorization.

Whether you're trying to impress some locals on your next trip, writing some literary analysis of Les Misérables or Candide, or struggling through the often confusing grammar and conjugation of verbs, I have been there. French is a language that has provided me with many opportunities and years of amazing experiences, and I would love to share those opportunities with others. I know what it's like to struggle to learn a new language and to overcome that struggle. As a tutor, I am flexible, patient, goal-oriented, and always happy to help.
