About Xavier

My education has been a very traditional one. As a young boy I was a chorister in Salisbury Cathedral. From there I won a music scholarship to Charterhouse. After Charterhouse I went with a choral scholarship to St John's College, Cambridge where, in 2015 I graduated with a first class degree in Classics. After graduating I taught Latin at the Perse Girls' School in Cambridge. Having done this for a year I moved to Moscow and tutored the two daughters of a Russian family in English, Maths, History and Sciences. I have recently won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music to study singing at postgraduate level. My experience as a student is still fresh in my mind, as is my experience as a teacher. Whether it be singing or maths, Latin or biology, I have an appreciation for the perspective of the pupil and that has and will inform my teaching and make it more empathetic and more clear. I know that for a pupil to progress they must be enthused and they must feel that the work they do is productive. I am keen to ensure clear notes are taken so that pupils always have physical proof of the work they have done.
