About Mike

I am a high school mathematics teacher based in Manly with a passion for helping students succeed. I tutor Years 7–12, including HSC Mathematics Standard, Advanced, and Extension, and have extensive experience supporting students of varying abilities to build confidence, improve performance, and achieve strong results. With 6 years’ private tutoring experience, most of my HSC students have achieved Band 6, and all have made consistent progress. I enjoy teaching, am patient and approachable, and find it rewarding to see students gain understanding and confidence. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, helping them master concepts and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

I tutor students from Years 7–12, including HSC Mathematics Standard, Advanced, and Extension, and have extensive experience supporting students of varying abilities to improve confidence, understanding and results. I have 6 years’ experience as a private mathematics tutor, with students consistently achieving strong outcomes, and the majority of my HSC students attaining Band 6. My tutoring is flexible and tailored to each student’s mathematics course and individual needs. Lessons may focus on homework support, clarifying difficult concepts, or working through challenging questions in depth. For students seeking extension or to work ahead, sessions may run longer and include abundant supplementary materials designed specifically for their level and course. I also believe in ongoing support, and I am always happy to help students with questions during the week by providing clear explanations or worked solutions where needed.

I'm a Year 10 Student doing Advanced Mathematics, and Mike has been helping me with my studies since 2025. I'm interested in Mathematics but I've found that Mathematics has been a challenging subject for me. However, since I have received tutoring from Mike, his breaking down of each question is extremely clear and explained eloquently such that it motivates me. Accordingly, I feel more confident with my Mathematics and with the help of Mike, I feel more comfortable in doing questions and staying on track with the set work and further questions as practice. Thank you Mike!

I’ve known Mike for a while and have learned maths with his help, especially harder topics like probability and algebra, which I used to struggle with a lot. He explains things in a really clear and simple way, even the hardest probability questions, and breaks them down step by step so they actually make sense.

He’s very patient and always makes sure you understand before moving on, which really helped my confidence in maths. I’d definitely recommend Mike to other Superprof students because he’s trustworthy, supportive, and really good at teaching difficult topics in a way that’s easy to understand.

My son is currently in Year 12 studying Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1, and he has been tutoring with this teacher for some time now. The quality of teaching has been excellent, the lessons are well structured to what my son is learning at school. What really stands out is the extra support provided outside of tutoring hours, especially when my son has questions about homework or difficult problems. This has made a big difference to his confidence and understanding of the content, and he is achieving strong results so far. I’m very happy with the ongoing support and would highly recommend Mike as a tutor.

We are extremely grateful for the support our daughter received over the past three years. The tutor provided outstanding guidance for HSC Mathematics Advanced, explaining concepts clearly and providing extensive practice resources. This consistent support greatly improved her confidence, which leads to a 98 in her HSC maths result.
