About Bobby

Hi! I'm Bobby, a recently qualified doctor, passionate about helping students build genuine understanding and confidence in their studies.

I've been tutoring GCSE and A-Level Biology and Maths for six years, as well as GCSE Physics and Chemistry. As a recently qualified medical doctor from the University of Sheffield (2025), I have a solid foundation in these subjects and enjoy showing students how they connect to real-world applications. I've also taught Anatomy and Physiology to younger medical students for two years through the Peer Teaching Society.

Through my tutoring experience, I've learned how to break down difficult topics into clear, manageable steps and adapt my teaching style to what works best for each student. I believe in tailoring my approach to each student's learning style – whether that's through visual diagrams, practical examples, or step-by-step problem solving.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing video games, playing guitar, computer programming, and sports like cricket and badminton. This diverse background helps me connect with students from different interests and find creative ways to explain concepts.

I genuinely enjoy helping students not just understand individual topics, but see how seemingly disconnected concepts link together to form the bigger picture of our understanding of science. My goal is to help you develop a curious mindset and genuine confidence in your abilities.

About the lesson

My approach is largely based around 'active recall', meaning that I ask many questions, and only give small prompts to gradually lead students to the answer, allowing them to work out the answer themselves. In this way, my approach is tailored to each student and their current needs. I have found that this significantly improves information retention - as students are forced to truly understand each topic and make links in their knowledge - and builds their confidence answering questions. Asking many questions also allows me to frequently gauge their level of knowledge, in order to tailor my explanations to each student's level of understanding, and plan future sessions.

I have helped with GCSE and A-Level Biology and Maths for the past 6 years, and Physics and Chemistry at GCSE level. I have also taught Anatomy and Physiology to the younger years at Medical School for 2 years through the Peer Teaching Society. I genuinely enjoy helping students refine their understanding, mentally link the seemingly disconnected topics learnt at school to see the bigger picture of our understanding of science, and grow a curious mindset.

Typically, a session lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours.
