About Heath

— MA in English Literature from University of Tennessee Chattanooga — Experienced with MLA standards —Undergraduate background in Finance (so I can help you write even if you are not in a literature context) — Published photographer and writer —Educator with almost 2 years of experience English is my passion: I’m excited to help you learn! About the lesson

My method in tutoring is simple: the only way to write better is simply to do it. A writing session (applies also for creative writing) will begin with a short prompt, some time to write, and a close reading of what you’ve written. We would then read a work together (whatever the genre or form being studied), and attempt to discover how it works. Then, you will have time to correct what you’ve already done with me. I structure the session this way to align it with the current academic research on rhetoric (aka writing) as process, compared to the older model that viewed it only as a finished product. In the same way that a research paper (or novel) is made over time, over long periods of writing/rewriting, I want to teach you that your writing can be also.
