About Jazmine
I used to be a student not long ago. I would always think about how I could become someone that inspires and motivates others. However, when I teach, I become someone that inspires me. I was a student teacher at El Paso High School. I built rapport with my students, peers, and staff. I was able to teach what I love and create meaningful and insightful lessons for my students. One of my favorite quotes that I live by is from Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix. "Every great wizard in history has started out as nothing more than we are now: students. If they can do it why not us." This quote has inspired and proved that we could do anything we set our minds and hearts to.

I am certified to teach grades 7-12 English Language Arts, so I am familiar with that area. Most of my lessons consist of letting the students become engaged. So that means I will not be doing hour lectures. However, I like to have an approach that gets students mind's thinking. I start my lesson with a bell ringer and a 10-minute lecture. I then frame the lesson with an I do/We do/ You Do approach. Lastly, I close my lesson with an exit ticket, assessing what the students learned in the lesson. As a former student, I understand that it's not easy for everyone. However, with student choice and engagement, I will make sure to have student lead courses for students.
