About Grace

As a recent graduate of English literature, I have a great love of literature. I enjoy essay writing and the close study of novels, poetry, and drama, as well as film and art, and would enjoy sharing what I have learned from years of devoted study and reaching my academic goals.
Throughout my university degree I maintained a weighted average mark of 80 across english and art history, achieving high distinctions throughout the two courses. In high school, I received a 95 ATAR and received the award for Literature.
I only conduct lessons via Zoom and via written correspondence.

About the lesson

My approach to literature is based in fostering the enjoyment of literary texts. I believe is best brought about through close and informed reading. I’ve found this approach to be highly rewarded in my classes and exams. Once you’re able to enjoy and appreciate a text and how it works, it is much easier to write about it to a high level.

I can,
proofread essays and offer advice on essay flow and developing a clear written communication style (available for one time proof readings!)
Introduce the method of close reading and teach you how to read closely
Identify and explain common literary techniques, and devices, and elaborate upon a text’s key themes, central ideas, and contexts, and help you do the same!

Overall, I can tutor you in the ability to understand, examine, respond to, and create literature.

I can develop specialised modules or worksheets to improve your skills. They will suit your areas of interest and your strengths and weaknesses, and align with both the Australian curriculum education outcomes for your year group and with your academic goals (additional charges may apply, as this is additional labour outside of the hourly tutoring time).

I have tutored two students since finishing high school, one at the year 7 level and one at the year 11 level. I am a patient and compassionate person now able to devote time to tutoring before I pursue further tertiary study.

Lessons are online via Zoom, in the afternoons and evenings, with lesson lengths flexible to your tutoring needs. Lessons available to all levels 7-12, including year 10, 11 and 12 exam prep, and to those with a personal or other professional interest.
