About Sakura
Hello! My name is Sakura! I am a RCM ARCT music student studying piano and violin, and I have been working as a RCM music teacher for 3 years!
I'm very experienced with helping my students prepare for their exams and have fun when they learn. Most of my students achieve high 80% during their exams, and two of my piano students have received over 90%! We can work together to achieve those marks if we are dedicated to learning every lesson!
My father is a retired RCM music teacher, and he inspired me to become one too! Learning music is fun when you know how to enjoy yourself :) Loving to learn can be a great skill to apply to other subjects in school! Every lesson is an opportunity to learn something new! I prioritize my students individual learning styles to help them flourish in the skills they aim to acquire. I have 3 years of experience as a RCM piano teacher, assisting my students prepare for their in-person and online practical examinations.
My Typical Lesson Plan involves engaging and personalized lessons tailored to individual learning styles. Incorporates fundamental RCM preparatory to Grade 8 (equivalent secondary school Grade 12) concepts, fostering a comprehensive understanding through a mix of theory, self-motivated practice, and enjoyable activities.
I'm currently teaching a full guide of theory from Preparatory to Level 6. I am expanding my knowledge on teaching melody writing before I am open to continuing teaching levels 7 and 8.
Distinguished by a student-centered approach, I prioritize creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. My commitment to both academic excellence and the joy of music sets me apart, ensuring a fulfilling and personalized educational experience.
My lessons are designed for students pursuing RCM preparatory to Grade 8, seeking high school credits, and those learning for sheer enjoyment. Lessons cater to a diverse range of aspirations, combining structured curriculum progression with a fun and engaging atmosphere. If students feel shy or uncomfortable with using their camera, I also provide lessons where I use 3D motion capture software to track an animated avatar for the students comfortability!

Be ready to take notes in a notebook! Have thin sticky notes to put on your sheet music and have a pencil that is either 0.3, 0.5 or 0.7 led!
I have an original teaching method inspired by all the RCM workshops I have been to before and during the pandemic.
All the skills I teach can be used for receiving high school credits recognized by the school boards of Canada and USA, as well as performing on stage and winning medals by the RCM.
