About Ramalaxmi

Hello, my name is Ramalaxmi, and I am a passionate and dedicated Science tutor based in Southend-on-Sea. I hold a BSc in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry, as well as a BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery), giving me a strong background in both the life sciences and medical sciences. With this academic foundation, I specialise in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A-level, while also teaching general Science for KS3 students. My aim is to help every student not only succeed in their exams but also develop a genuine understanding and appreciation of science. I understand that many students find science challenging or intimidating, so my teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s individual needs. By breaking down complex topics into clear, simple explanations and using real-life examples, I make lessons engaging and relatable. I also provide exam-focused practice with past papers to build both confidence and accuracy. Parents and students can be assured of my professionalism, reliability, and commitment. I offer structured lessons, a calm learning environment, and a clear plan to help students progress. I also hold an Enhanced DBS check, giving families peace of mind about safety and trust. Whether your child is preparing for exams, needs extra support to boost grades, or simply wants to build confidence in science, I am here to guide them every step of the way.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology & Techniques I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching to the learner’s needs. My approach includes: Explaining concepts simply with real-life examples to make science easier to understand. Step-by-step problem solving for exam-style questions. Active learning techniques such as diagrams, quizzes, and practice questions to keep lessons engaging. Exam preparation using past papers, mark schemes, and examiner reports to build confidence and accuracy. Encouragement and support, helping students overcome fear of science and enjoy the subject. Lesson Length A typical lesson is 60 minutes, focused and interactive. For exam preparation or A-level students, I also offer 90-minute sessions for deeper coverage. Shorter sessions (30–45 mins) are possible for younger learners or revision boosters. My Qualifications & Experience BSc in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry – strong foundation in life and physical sciences. BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) – extensive knowledge of human biology, health, and medical science. Experience helping students understand challenging science topics and preparing them for exams. Passionate about making science engaging, practical, and relevant to everyday life. Who My Lessons Are For Key Stage 3 (ages 11–14): Building strong science fundamentals. GCSE Science (ages 14–16): Biology, Chemistry, and Combined Science – exam preparation and topic mastery. A-level (ages 16–18): Biology (specialist) and Chemistry support. Adult learners who want to refresh or strengthen their science knowledge.
