About Fozia
I am a qualified teacher from Calgary, AB. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Culture studies with a minor in Sociology in 2013 and then went on to do my Teaching degree from the university of Calgary and completed that in 2015. I have previously taught in China as well as the UK. I am now certified in both Alberta and British Columbia and can teach anywhere from K-12 but most of my experiences involve teaching English and Humanities-related subjects.

I strongly believe in enquiry-based learning and that central to effective teaching is the incorporation of student-centred learning in which students can demonstrate their creative thinking skills in all subject areas. Supportive classroom environments are successful when properly utilized around student-centred learning and orientated towards diversity inclusion by teachers. This requires multiple forms of “assessment for learning” and “of learning”. Creativity allows for the inherent and intrinsic qualities of students to be brought forth and expressed through creative forms of expression and offers the best criteria for effective assessment. It is when students go beyond traditional methods of learning and following step-by-step instructions, that their intrinsic creativeness can truly flourish and allow teachers to observe “out of the box” thinking and creating.
